Urea is a humectant that attracts moisture from the air. Urea is used when applying dye solutions directly to fabric, as in tie dyeing or hand painting. It slows the drying process; therefore, it allows more time for the dye to react with the fiber and yields deeper shades. Urea can be used with Sodium Alginate thickener for screen printing, painting or direct dye application. 1lbs.

Instructions:
Add 1 TBS Urea per 8 oz solution (1/4 cup per quart of dye solution).

Soda Ash dye fixer is a mild alkali that promotes the chemical reaction between Procion MX fiber reactive dyes and cellulose fiber. It is also known as sodium carbonate, washing soda or sal soda. Soda Ash is necessary to activate and set Procion MX dye. 1lbs.

Instructions:
For tie dye (pre-soak method):
Use one cup per gallon of warm water. Soak fabric in mixture for 20 min. Squeeze/wring out excess solution by hand. Do not rinse out.

For immersion dyeing cellulose fibers:
Use 1/4 to 1/3 cup per 3 gallons of water. Add to dye bath per instructions.

For dyeing cellulose fibers in washing machine:
Use 2-3 cups per load. Dissolve in 1 quart hot water. Gradually add to dyebath in washer per instructions.

Batik Wax is a 50/50 blend of Paraffin and Microcrystalline waxes. The Microcrystalline tempers the paraffin for better adhesion to fabric and less brittleness than paraffin alone. This blend will give better control over the distinctive “crackle” effect in traditional batik.

Melting point 140° F

Yellow Beeswax
100% pure yellow refined beeswax for batik, candlemaking and crafts. The flexibility of beeswax will give less “crackle” when used in batik.

Melting point 144° F

Tradtional Tjanting Tools
These are traditional tools used to draw and apply hot wax to fabric in batik. Available in 3 spout sizes.
Fine, Medium, Large
Metal Tips are used with the 1/2 fl oz/14 ml small applicator bottle, these metal tips will give fine line detail with gutta, paints, inks and glues.
